Reflecting upon the urban heritage of the area, the site was once located in a predominantly industrial sector of Belfast.

Within the historic context of the city, the development site was originally occupied by a dense network of narrow streets fronted by low rise residences set against larger scale industrial buildings.

The site is bounded by  Union Street to the east, Little Donegall Street to the north, Stephen Street to the west and Library Street to the south.

This option explored a range of stepped and sloped roof surfaces, where accentuated sloped roof forms articulated the corner of Union Street and Little Donegall Street over the building entrance and the corner adjacent to Stephen Street and Library Street drawing the view up to Carrick Hill.

This development will contribute to the reuse of vacant and underutilised city centre sites. provide suitably located accommodation for the growing student population and serve as a catalyst for potential improvements to surrounding vacant sites in the area.
